Clients / Browsers

Khameleon v.7 was system released with to run with Windows clients. To run Windows Vista and Windows 7 clients requires 10.1.2.3 Oracle Application server version. We strongly recommend running Java Client instead of Oracle J-Initiator when possible.

Oracle certifies other client platforms for Oracle Products like Mac OS, Solaris and Linux and other browsers like Mozilla and Netscape. We strongly recommend using just Windows clients with the available Browser / Java Client listed, because those have been tested to use with Khameleon Applications.

The client must have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 6.0 or greater installed in the workstation to use as a browser plug-in to open pdf documents.

JAVA CLIENT RUNTIME VERSION ON WINDOWS

Using Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0

Khameleon 7.X version is tested and installed by default in a forms configuration to use last update of Java client 1.5 version as it is the only one certified for IE6, IE7 and Firefox. Version 7.2.X is installed with Java 1.5.0_16 and version 7.3.X with Java 1.5.0_19. If you plan to use IE 6.0 we strongly recommend using this tested configuration for Khameleon, but you could try configuring other Java client version certified for Oracle forms according with Oracle recommendations.

Adjusting Java Version

To check what is your current Java version navigating to Start > Control Panel > Java > General “Tab”; About “button”. If you’re going to use IE 6.0 and you have

Java 1.6 version, you should uninstall it (through Control Panel > Add Remove Programs) and opening again Khameleon applications to install the appropriate Java 1.5 version from the Application Server. Then disable Java automatic update through Start > Control Panel > Java > Update “Tab”; uncheck “Check for updates automatically”.

Using Internet Explorer only version 7.0 and above

If you don’t plan to use Internet 6.0 in your workstations and just 7.0 +versions, the best approach is to use Khameleon 7.X with Java 1.6 version. Khameleon is

configured by default to use JRE 1.5 update 16 or 19, however you can apply the

following procedure in your workstations to work with 1.6 update 15 (The minimum recommended update to use JRE 1.6).

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove programs and remove Any Java

Runtime Client version prior to 1.6 update 15, particularly any update of Java 1.5 version.

Navigate to http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/6u15/index.html, download and install the Java Runtime 1.6 update 15. You can use any new update greater than 15.
