Khameleon uses a number of icons to allow you to easily execute a variety of common Oracle functions within the application. These icons are contained in the Khameleon toolbar, located at the top of the window, just below the main menu options.
The Khameleon Toolbar
Commit or Save
This icon is used to save any additions or changes to the database. If you modify any field while in a window not related to entering a query and then try to exit the window
without clicking Commit/Save, Khameleon will ask you if you would like to save your changes.
Exit or Go Back
This icon allows you to leave a window or menu.
Duplicate Record
This icon is a quick way to duplicate all of the fields from another record. After the duplication, the necessary fields can be changed. You can duplicate only one field (rather than the entire record) by using the Duplicate Field key.
Start Query Mode
A query is a process that allows you to retrieve data, view existing data or extract specific records from the database tables. When you are in a window and wish to view existing data or information, click Query. Enter any specific information in one of the fields in the window to narrow the search. You can also use wildcards to enter queries. Enter ‘%’ for a multiple character wild card, or enter ‘-’ for a single character wildcard.
Execute Query
Once you have entered the data for your search, click Execute Query to retrieve the results.
Cancel Query
This icon is used to cancel a query. When in query mode, the Cancel Query icons will be colored. When the system is not in query mode, the button is grayed out. You can also cancel a query by clicking the Exit icon.
Previous Record
This icon allows you to scroll back to the previous record
Next Record
This icon takes you to the next available record in the screen or executed query. If you go past the last existing record, Khameleon will create a new record in the database
just as if you had clicked the Create Record icon unless you are in query mode. If using next record in query mode, a message will be displayed that you can't add a new record.
Create Record
This icon creates a new record. You can use this function to create a new record when viewing an existing record or when you enter a window and query existing information.
Delete Record
This icon deletes a record from the database. In Khameleon, the deleted record is actually retained in the database with a status code of ‘D’ if the data belongs to a
master table, such as the Employee Projects, Customer, and Terms master tables.
Clear Record
This icon should be used when you make a mistake entering data and want to start over or if you accidentally move into a new record and want to move out without entering any data. If the record was saved, this icon simply removes it from the window. Otherwise, the record is deleted from the database.
Change Entity
This icon opens a window where you can change your current processing and reporting entity – either for the current form, session or current and future session.
Notes Anywhere
This icon is enabled for screens that allow Notes Anywhere notes to be entered.
Search
This icon opens a window to search for company and contact records.
Print Screen
This icon prints the current window.
